The ‘Happy Jack® Purple’ has velvety, plum-purple flowers with bright yellow stamens.  It flowers early and long, with flowers lasting from mid-summer into fall.  The ‘Happy Jack Purple’ flowers on both new and old wood.  As with most types of Clematis, a trellis will probably be necessary for staking.
