The Hot Rod has firmly upright foliage that emerges blue-green then quickly turns red until the whole plant is a deep maroon color.  This Panicum turns red earlier than other Panicum varieties.

Bloom Time:  Mid Summer to Mid Fall.

Growth Habit: 36-40″ in height.

Foliage:  Stiff, Blue-green, turns red quickly.
